Branding

Michael Buble

Michael Buble has lots of merchandise it is mostly sold on his website and at performances and at different shops and markets, quiet a few record stores sell posters and extra merchandise to make revenue. Its purpose is to advertise and promote the band or artist. Michael has a range of different items leading from posters coasters and bag hocks and hooded jumpers and key rings, each advertise Michael if not by face by name or even advertise songs. This merchandise just acts as a walking bill-bored to be honest and it obviously makes profit to the artist and to the record label which is why artists do it sometimes in there decline of there career. They are designed to sell and make more revenue and designed for devoted fans. I think that Michael Bubles merchandise it hugely successful as he has gone for the generic things to make and some of the more quirky things that could be made. For example he has made the normal calendars’ and postcards and posters and flyers and hooded jumpers and other clothing but he’s also made bag hocks and luggage tags and little sliver ornaments. This is being unique but still ensuring that he has his generic merchandise to fall back on if no-one buys the quirky original merchandise. Most merchandise is sold at performances outside the venue or inside the venue which is very good as most people want souvenirs of performances and if they’ve paid for a ticket they are usually prepared to pay for hooded top or other merchandise. Michael said something at a performance in America and said that all the money he raised from that particular performance would all go to B.C his children’s hospital and this shows that for Michael it’s not about the merchandise or the money he gets it’s about the good feeling you get to give! He braded himself very well and will continue to do so as he has allot of upcoming performances and has allot more fans than ever willing to buy tickets and merchandise from our wonderful giving Michael.
Rolling stones

Rolling Stones, have got an iconic sign and this sign is not only eye catching but is very memorable the rolling stones have been very clever on there choice of colours and on there choice of motif. This motif was made in the 1960’s and fits the era of that pop art ,art decor style that was coming in and the bright garish colours just add to the pop art sort of style. Everyone either had there badges or posters in there room not only for the recognition but to decorate your room as it fitted in with the contemporary art fro that decade. Rolling stones have had a very successful music carer and I know this is due to the statistics on there website which reinforces there successes over the years. They have got merchandise ranging from the normal badges that everyone had to lighters and coasters and the normal gimmicky merchandise and retail items such as hooded jumpers and tee-shirts. They have such an iconic sign and also such an iconic colour motif throughout there whole album which is a good similarity and recognition thing to do. This allows your target audience to know and find your album very quickly whereas if you’re changing your colouring of the album and the motif and symbol to your album it gets confusing and hard to find the artists album in a record store.

Pink Floyd Pink Floyd have had a lot of success due to the way that Pink Floyd have promoted themselves and created a iconic brand identity and allowed there target audience to identify them quickly and easy. Sky Arts are to create a pyramid on London’s Primrose Hill to publicise their showing of Pink Floyd’s Earl’s Court 1994 performance of The Dark Side of The Moon on Sky Arts 1 in high definition. They have a been very successful and this is shown on there website which says “Dark Side has sold approximately 34 million copies worldwide.” There symbol both incorporates the arts and science with the colour spectrum. They have a very unique brand identity and are very universally liked which is why they had such success as band.
